Our drive from Minnesota to Green Bay was some distance, so we found a Wisconsin cheese shop on the way, Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery in Menomonie, WI. We purchased a few small bars of cheese to try later in our trip. They had so many options, especially curds but we opted for the regular bars. We’ve been eating quite a bit of curds on our travels through WI and MN. We eventually arrived in Green Bay late afternoon on day 1 and just wanted to relax for a few hours before dinner.
On day two we took a ride to Bay Beach Amusement Park/Bay Beach Park which sits right on Green Bay. The morning was a little hazy for pictures so they weren’t real clear. The amusements were your dated park rides, with mainly children’s rides and pavilions for rent. The tickets cost $.25 each, yes you hear that right, $.25 each!!! Majority of the rides were 1-2 tickets with the largest ride being 4 tickets, a wooden roller coaster. We didn’t ride anything since it was geared for children but enjoyed just walking around for a little while. A great family spot for the day for those who live close to the area for sure. We also stopped at Seroogy’s Chocolate shop as well and of course we purchased just a few things to sample.

Next on the schedule was a two-hour tour in the early afternoon of Lambeau Field. We arrived a little early so we had time to walk around the team store. The store is 22,000 square feet of Packers items, it was the biggest fan shop we’ve ever seen.
The stadium tour started in the Atrium which was completed in 2015. What an amazing tour, we visited all the suite levels, press box, concourses, visitor locker room, even walked through the Packers tunnel with music playing to the field and then to the 50-yard line. Most homes around the stadium are decorated and a lot have tailgating balconies or yards built specifically for game day. One of the homes is even designed to be like Lambeau Field. Even visiting during non-football season we could tell that during football season it would be an amazing place to experience. If you don’t know the history of the Packers, the team is the only non-profit, community-owned major league professional sports team.

After the tour we were off to downtown Green Bay for a street fair and had lunch and drinks at a local restaurant.
With a short drive to Milwaukee the next day we enjoyed a relaxing morning before we headed out. Arrived in Milwaukee at lunchtime and decided to check out the Milwaukee Public Market before our room was ready. The market is a very small version of the Reading Terminal and was extremely crowded because it was lunchtime and of course I forgot to get some pictures while we were. We ended up enjoying lunch at a local restaurant across the street. After lunch we took a short walk down the Riverwalk to see the famous “The Fonz” statue. It is an actual replica size of his height, which was pretty cool.
After checked-in we quickly had to work our way back to the Riverwalk on the west side this time for our 1.5 hour narrated boat ride of the Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan. We really enjoyed it, so much history in the city from Irish, Italian and German immigrants. We drove up to the northern part of the Riverwalk to enjoy some dinner and beer(Mike) at Lakefront Brewery. The hall was huge with a beautiful outdoor space right on the river to enjoy beer and some German food. Mike has been wanting to eat a brat so we ordered the brat and pretzel bite board. I’m not a fan of brats so he had that all to himself!

Day two we took a drive back into town this time to 3rd Street Market Hall to get a bit to eat for lunch. The hall was more of an upscale food court attached to a large commercial building. In the middle of the hall was a wrap-around bar where you can also get a cocktail for lunch while eating something from any of the food vendors. After lunch we took another short walk through the town again just to get a bit of exercise in.
Later that evening we headed to American Family Field for the Milwaukee Brewers game. We have been arriving to all stadiums at least 15 minutes prior to gate opening so we can look around the stadium fully. Once inside we usually walk all concourses to make sure we don’t miss anything! We have been in Milwaukee before but it was the old Milwaukee County Stadium. The stadium was supposed to be open but there was a crane accident which delayed the opening of the new stadium for a year. When we entered the roof was open but while we were touring the 400 level concourse we noticed it was being closed. They didn’t expect weather issues but it they closed it anyway, it took about 10-15 minutes. For this game we had great seats, 11 rows behind Homeplate!! During the 6th inning they do their sausage race, and the polish sausage won(#2). Mike enjoyed a hotdog with fried cheese curds, cheddar cheese sauce and ranch dressing while I opted for the standard dog.
On to the next town!!
