Weather has been fantastic all week, just one windy day in Cleveland but didn’t interfere much with our plans.
Our first game was in Cincinnati at Great American Ballpark. We’ve been to Cincinnati before so this was a quick in and out on game day! The Ballpark sits on the Ohio River where Kentucky & Ohio border. The coolest thing about the stadium was the outfield bar/pavilion area which is for private events which is a replica of steam riverboat. The boat stacks shot fireworks when the team scores as well as shooting fire balls when they strike out an opponent. Due to low attendance we didn’t get a great hometown atmosphere however the Reds did win.

With no games on our schedule we traveled to Indianapolis for 2 days after Cincinnati. This was a little downtime for us since we knew busier week/days were ahead. The first day we visited Indianapolis Motor Speedway which was just before the running of the Indianapolis 500 race on Memorial Day. Neither Mike or I are race fans but being in the city we had to go see it and the track is enormous! After the speedway we made our way downtown to Lucas Oil Stadium where the Colts play along with a walk around town and visited a local City Market which was a much smaller version of the Reading Terminal in Philly. Day 2 we visited the Zoo and the NCAA Hall of Champions Museum. The best thing about the zoo was an enclosed walkway with kangaroos out in the open. We have never seen this anywhere before and it was amazing!

After Indianapolis we headed back to Ohio because of the MLB game schedule. We spent almost 2 full days in Cleveland arriving mid-afternoon on day 1. I have visited before but Mike has never been. Our first day was The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, which was the windiest day so far. The museum has changed a lot since my last visit almost 10 years ago but we really enjoyed the 6 levels of memorabilia and music.
Day 2 Cleveland –
Since the Guardians game was a night game we first stopped at a beach on Lake Erie and to walk around the park. (just had to see a beach on Memorial Day weekend – lol) Next we made our way downtown and visited the West Side Market which was more like the Reading Terminal with produce, prepared foods with meats and poultry and so much more! Next on the list was a quick walk to 4th street which is primarily bars and restaurants surrounding the stadium area. Mike also enjoyed Great Lakes Brewery and Southern Tier Brewing Company with a quick stop at a local grocery store that was absolutely amazing. The picture of the rotunda on the collage was in the middle of the grocery store. Then off to Progressive Field for the game which ended up being Dollar Dog Night, Free Terry Francona T-shirt Giveaway and Firework Night, wow what a game! Bigger crowd, great atmosphere we really enjoyed the stadium.

The morning after we headed out early to catch the 1:05 game in Detroit at Comerica Park which also happen to be a Riley Green Bucket Hat giveaway. Due to MLB schedule we decided not to stay the night in Detroit and spend the holiday weekend in Chicago with 2 games on the schedule there. I must say that Detroit Stadium has been our favorite out of the three parks we visited so far. So much history of the team within the walls of the stadium with a great atmosphere. Beer Gardens, Food Halls, Kid Zones, Memorabilia with just an overall great experience especially since they are celebrating Miggy’s final season! Comerica Park also happens to be 40’ from Ford Field home of the Detroit Lions!
